History of Energy Control

Energy Control was first established by Tommy in 2014. It was the start of a vision to create smarter and more energy-efficient buildings. In 2021, the company was restructured: Energy Control was transformed into a holding company, while Energy Control AS was established as an independent company with a clear direction and a dedicated focus.

‍From small buildings to large solutions — the journey to Energy Control

‍Energy Control was established in 2014 with a clear objective: To make it possible and profitable to digitize also the small and medium-sized buildings. At that time, the market was characterized by the fact that the largest players had access to advanced systems and technology, while smaller buildings were often left without good solutions for energy management and indoor climate. We saw a need that no one else was covering -- and we decided to do something about it. Over the years, Energy Control has grown in step with the challenges and opportunities we have faced. Today, we're not just working on smaller construction -- we're also taking on some of the biggest projects in the country. Everything from hotels to shopping malls and large commercial buildings.

Our approach is structured and based on a three-part journey:

‍1. We always start by measuring.
‍
The first step is about insight. We install sensors to capture data on CO₂, temperature, humidity, noise and light. This gives us an accurate picture of what is actually happening in the building — and forms the basis for all further work.

‍2. Next, we analyze whether the heating and ventilation are working properly.
‍
Here we look at how the building behaves in practice. Is the ventilation system working optimally? Is the heating adapted to the usage patterns? Do we have rooms that are too hot, too cold or simply empty for no reason?

‍3. Finally, we look at the result — the indoor climate.
‍
The goal is not only to save energy, but to create a good and documented indoor climate for those who actually live in the building. By combining measurement data with insight and practical understanding, we ensure solutions that work in real life.All this work begins in our office. There we program the building, mark up equipment and build a digital twin that gives a full overview before we even enter the door of the building. This makes the process more efficient, reduces errors and provides our customers with a solid foundation for future operations.
