EC Customer Nominated for Green Operations Team of the Year

Statens vegvesen has been nominated for Green Operations Team of the Year by Grønn Byggallianse for its energy work at Drammen and Risløkka traffic stations.

– Without Energy Control we would not have been nominated. The company has played a central and important role in this nomination, says Martin Hellерød Sæther, Head of FDVU & Proptech at Statens vegvesen.
He explains that they are extremely proud of what they have achieved and that the effort is now being recognised with such a nomination. Many of the results have been achieved through cost-effective technology measures that are often paid back within less than a year.
– All credit to the technology that helps us, but not least to our colleagues who every day manage our buildings at Drammen and Risløkka traffic stations, says Sæther.

Down by 25 percent
The public sector organisation has for several years been actively working on energy management in its buildings. The collaboration with Energy Control and the introduction of the energy management app EC Go has, among other things, given the company real-time data and better follow-up.
– We now demand-control the ventilation in many of our buildings. In the buildings for which we have been nominated, we have reduced energy use on ventilation by 25 percent, which has also given us lower costs and a better indoor climate, says Sæther.

Incredibly exciting
He explains that Statens vegvesen has an R&D collaboration with Energy Control, through which they continuously work on improvements and development of building management and the EC Go app.
– In practice, this means we come with requests and give feedback on what adjustments and adaptations we want. Energy Control thereby facilitates us achieving even better results, says Sæther.

Tommy Hagenes at Energy Control is thrilled that Statens vegvesen is one of the nominees for Green Operations Team of the Year.
– Statens vegvesen is doing an outstanding job for their own buildings. They work hard every day, continuously striving to manage their buildings as well as possible. It is incredibly exciting that our solution can contribute to what they achieve, says Hagenes.

Also about waste
The nomination includes, however, more than energy — waste management is also an important part of Statens vegvesen’s work at the two traffic stations. The team collects approximately two tonnes of paper towels annually and sends these back to the manufacturer for new production. Around 10 tonnes of work clothing has been collected, with 15–20 percent being reused and the rest used for furniture production. No clothing has been incinerated since 2023. Creative solutions and a hub arrangement for waste ensure efficient logistics despite having many small buildings. Systematic collection of waste data provides overview and sets ambitious targets for increased source sorting towards 2030.
