The classic commercial building in the heart of Oslo is over 150 years old. The property at Universitetsgata 14 has now been fully equipped with wireless sensors and control of both ventilation and heating.

– We are in the final phase of a significant technical upgrade of the building. The heat pumps are being started up this week, says Jonas Hellerud, Facility Manager at Glitner Eiendom.
Unknown, but forward-looking
For many, Glitner Eiendom is perhaps a somewhat unknown property company. Despite its relatively anonymous existence, the company can boast a portfolio of over 20 properties with a combined area of approximately 55,000 square metres. No small player, in other words.
The company is owned by United Bakeries, and several of the properties are therefore industrial properties and bakeries. They also have more traditional commercial properties, such as the beautiful commercial building at Universitetsgata 14.
– Here, together with Energy Control, we have gone all-in. This is an older building where there was previously no form of management. Now we have wireless sensors in all rooms, radiator and energy management, as well as ventilation control, says Hellerud.
Control in the bakery
In addition to the commercial building at Universitetsgata, Glitner has also implemented sensors in one of their bakeries. Oslobakeriet was the company's first with sensors and control of ventilation and indoor climate.
– We have now also connected energy valves on the district heating. This was the first project we ran together with Energy Control, says Hellerud.
He explains that they have significant ambitions when it comes to rolling out sensors going forward.
– We will increase the rollout significantly, which will give us better control of both the indoor climate and energy consumption. With that, you quickly see where investments should be made.
Does not have to be large
Christian Hope at Energy Control explains that Glitner's buildings show how the company's technology works well in a range of different types of buildings.
– The old commercial building from 1872 has been modernised and can now show an excellent and, not least, documented indoor climate. The building owner has now ensured full control of both energy and indoor climate. At the same time, we also see that our solution works well in Oslobakeriet, which is an industrial building with energy-intensive equipment and solutions. The two buildings demonstrate in many ways the unique strength of the sensors, says Hope.
