Straight to the heart of what the award is about
‍Proptech Summit is organised by Proptech Norway and annually gathers everyone who is anyone in the world of proptech in the country. During the event they also present the award – Top of The Props. They themselves describe it as "an award that gives recognition and honour to the most outstanding companies and individuals in the Norwegian proptech industry over the past year, highlighting their role as drivers in this growing ecosystem." The award is presented at Oslo Innovation Fest, the official after-party of Proptech Summit, on 22 October.

CEO of Proptech Norway, Daniel Butenschøen, has been impressed by what the technology company from Bergen has achieved.
– Energy Control goes straight to the heart of what this award is about. They create real value in real estate through technology. Energy Control has combined innovation, insight and practical execution in a way that makes them a natural finalist – and a player that elevates the entire proptech ecosystem, says Butenschøen.

‍A textbook example
‍The proptech chief believes that Energy Control is a textbook example of what real proptech is about.
– By taking technology out of PowerPoint presentations and into the engine room, the company has made energy efficiency accessible, understandable and profitable – not just for the biggest players, but right down to small commercial buildings. That's how we get the entire industry on board with the green transition, says Butenschøen, continuing:
– What started as a consultancy has developed into a technology engine with impressive organic growth. With in-house software, AI-driven assistants and solutions that actually reduce energy consumption in buildings – on average by over 40 percent – Energy Control shows that Norwegian proptech can deliver globally relevant results, says Butenschøen.

‍Has taken significant steps
‍Hagenes is almost embarrassed by the kind words, but says the company has taken significant steps over the past year.
– Our technology has been further developed and improved, but we have also increased our headcount. We now have nine permanent employees. In other words, we've become a proper company, says Hagenes.
